О, кто-то перевел статью из EETimes, хорошо. Я думал делать пост на эту тему, но потом передумал, так как раньше писал.

А вот можешь посмотреть в сжатой форме бизнес статью про MIPS vs ARM vs Intel - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ibd/20100831/bs_ibd_ibd/545575

В частности наглядное сравнение для бизнес людей - we enable having three of our multithreaded processor cores in about the same area as two of ARM's processor cores

А также

IBD: MIPS is much smaller than ARM. How will you compete?

Vij: MIPS has both 32-bit and 64-bit (able to grab bigger chunks of data) processors. ARM does not have 64-bit. MIPS has single and multithreaded (capable of doing multiple tasks at one time) designs. ARM does not have multithreaded.

MIPS has quad-core designs. They (ARM) also can go up to four cores, but only relatively recently. MIPS has been doing multicore implementations for 12 years or so.

IBD: Still, ARM has deeper pockets and can fund research to advance its designs faster.

Vij: ARM has been bigger in sales than MIPS for a while. But MIPS is No. 1 in (licensing to makers of) processors for digital TVs, DVDs and Blu-ray DVD players, set-top boxes, and Wi-Fi access points and routers for home networks.

IBD: You will also be going up against Intel.

Vij: They won't compete directly with us. They will compete with the likes of Broadcom, Sony and Cavium Networks. They all make or use chips based on MIPS designs and cores.
